Senate DFL Candidate Mark Legvold and Senator Lindsey Port Pledge to Fight for Affordable Healthcare

Residents brace for healthcare cuts coming from Washington

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORTHFIELD, MN — Yesterday, Senate DFL candidate Mark Legvold (SD 58), Senator Lindsey Port (SD 55), and Senator Alice Mann met with residents, healthcare professionals, and local leaders for a roundtable discussion on rising healthcare costs and the impacts of federal healthcare cuts on communities across the region.

Residents shared concerns about the strain that rising healthcare costs have on family budgets and rural access to care, as a result of federal cuts. Senators Port and Mann also highlighted the importance of electing leaders who will fight for affordable healthcare. They pointed to Legvold’s opponent, Bill Lieske, and his record of voting against laws to cap prescription drug cost, drug pricing protections for rural pharmacies, and funding for rural hospital stabilization.

“Donald Trump and Bill Lieske are backing policies that threaten access to affordable healthcare for families across our state,” said Legvold. “Cuts to Medicaid put our hospitals, rural communities, and hardworking families at risk while prioritizing tax breaks for billionaires. In the State Senate, I will fight to ensure every Minnesotan has access to the care they need, regardless of their ZIP code.”
