MINNESOTA SENATE DFL CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON REDISTRICTING

DFL Leader Melisa López Franzen says caucus is ready to compete and win in November

Saint Paul, MN – Today a five-judge panel released redrawn congressional and legislative maps that will shape the state’s elections for the next decade. Redistricting, which occurs every ten years due to updated census data, sets boundaries for the state’s eight districts in Congress, 67 state Senate districts and 134 state House seats.

Following the release of the maps, DFL Senate Leader Melisa López Franzen released the following statement:

“The Senate DFL is ready to win and ready to lead. The maps released today start the next phase of our work to fight for the things that matter most to Minnesotans.

The stakes couldn’t be higher in this November’s elections. In every corner of the state, people tell us they want safe communities, a healthy Minnesota and a robust economy that won’t shut them out.

In just the past two weeks, we’ve traveled from Rochester to Saint Cloud, from Duluth to Moorhead. What we’ve heard there – and in every community in between – makes it clear Democrats are in sync and aligned with Minnesotans. We’re ready to roll up our sleeves, confront those who cling to the status quo and obstruct progress, and deliver for the people of Minnesota.”
