Kent Eken (born December 1963) represents SD 4, which includes Becker, Clay, and Norman counties. Kent grew up in Twin Valley, Minnesota and attended Concordia College, Moorhead, earning a degree in Political Science and Education. In 2002, he received his M.A. in His- tory from St. Cloud State University. Kent has taught economics, history, and government in rural Minnesota for many years as a high school and substitute teacher.

Among Kent’s legislative priorities is the improvement of education at all levels, the reduction of property taxes, high quality long-term care for our seniors and the dis- abled, and a healthy agriculture economy.Kent was first elected to the Senate in 2012. Before that, he represented District 2A in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2002 to 2012. While in the House, Kent has served as the chair of the Environment Policy and Oversight Committee and as Assistant Minority Leader.

Kent and his family have deep roots in Western Minnesota. Kent lives on the farm his great- great-grandfather built with his wife Lori and their four children, Kara, Samuel, Amber and Adam in Twin Valley.
