Kari Dziedzic represents SD 60 in Minneapolis, which includes Northeast Minneapolis, Southeast Minneapolis, Nicollet Island, the University of Minnesota Campus and the Cedar-Riverside area in Hennepin County. She was elected to the Minnesota Senate on January 10, 2012, succeeding former Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller. She was later re-elected in 2012.
Prior to her election to the Senate, Kari Dziedzic worked as policy assistant to Hennepin County Commissioner Mark Stenglein. Her previous experience includes working in a major law firm, working in a multimedia communications company, serving as press secretary for Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and working as an aide to Senator Paul Wellstone. She serves on the Catholic Eldercare Board of Directors.
Dziedzic attended Edison High School and the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Technology. She is the daughter of long-time Minneapolis city council member Walt Dziedzic.
