John Marty represents SD 66, which includes Roseville, Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, and a portion of St. Paul. Marty attended St. Olaf College and graduated with a B.A. in Ethics in 1978. After college, he worked as a researcher and a foundation grant administrator.
He was first elected to the Senate in 1986 and has been re-elected for nine terms.
Marty is best known to Minnesota residents as an advo- cate on environmental issues, health care reform, and gov- ernment ethics and campaign finance reform, and is the au- thor of the proposed Minnesota Health Plan.
Marty is the Ranking Minority Member for the Health and Human Services Finance and Policy Committee, and also serves on the Finance Committtee and the Energy and Utilities Finance and Policy Committee.
Marty and his wife Connie live in Roseville and they have two adult children, Elsa and Micah.
